Originally from Ohio, Erin was a high achiever from a young age. She began college at 16 and earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from North Carolina State University. She went straight into Wake Forest University School of Law, where, on her very first day, a dean told her she was the youngest law student ever to enroll. However, this did not hinder her academic success; she competed on the national moot court team and was selected by Legal Aid of North Carolina as a Martin Luther King, Jr. Fellow in recognition of her talent and commitment to equal justice.

In law school, Erin was initially disheartened by the emphasis on corporate law and transactional matters. After her first year, she came close to leaving law school to pursue veterinary medicine. It was not until she met Mark Rabil, Director of the Innocence and Justice Clinic at Wake Forest, that she discovered her calling in the legal field. Through her exposure to criminal law and innocence work, Erin met like-minded individuals who wanted to fight in the trenches alongside clients who were real people, not corporations. Erin had found her niche, and she excelled.

Before joining McMinn, Fradin, Gray & Logan in 2024, Erin practiced as a solo practitioner and worked at a prominent local law firm. As a young, determined solo practitioner, she learned to manage every aspect of a case from start to finish. Working at a law firm provided the time and space to hone her skills and work alongside talented mentors, allowing her to expand her capabilities and knowledge base.

Over the years and especially since the pandemic, Erin’s practice has focused almost exclusively on family law. She values ​​the depth of the attorney-client relationship inherent in family law cases. She enjoys getting to know her clients: their hopes and plans for the future; the dreams that never came to pass; who they are as individuals and who their children are; and what both scares and excites them. Erin recognizes the importance of shouldering the burdens of their cases so that her clients can move forward and heal from the emotional impact of separation and divorce. She takes pride in fighting on their behalf analyzing issues, devising strategies, and serving as a pillar of strength during difficult times. Erin does not rest until every argument and every contingency has been considered and prepared for.

Erin approaches every case with her own unique passion and intensity. She once brought two massive jars of marbles and an eight-foot-long spreadsheet into the courtroom to illustrate a point in a case. She views the practice of law as a natural extension of her exceptional communication and debating skills traits born of the fearlessness and determination she developed as a child. Erin grew up riding show jumpers and hunters; “learning to fly” on horseback at a young age profoundly shaped the rest of her life. Although she no longer “flies,” Erin holds fast to the values ​​she learned back then: courage, grit, patience, and a sense of responsibility.

Throughout her years of practice, Erin has never lost her love for animals or her desire to care for them. Although she has not (yet) attended veterinary school, she has found an outlet for her passion through animal rescue work. She runs a hobby farm where her day begins and ends with caring for her beloved goats. She also looks after her horse, donkeys, poultry, and a small pack of rescue dogs. When she isn’t with her animals, you will find Erin out on a lake, a river, or a mountain.
